Too often, the people labeled as the “bottom of the totem pole” in employment are actually the ones carrying the heaviest invisible loads.

The employee who freezes during performance reviews. The worker who avoids meetings because of social anxiety. The individual whose depression shows up as missed deadlines. The disabled employee who is capable—but consistently overlooked, underestimated, or disrespected.

Step Forward™ exists for them.

This program was built to support individuals who are frequently misunderstood in the workplace—not because they lack skill or motivation, but because trauma, anxiety, or lived experience shows up in ways traditional employment systems don’t know how to respond to.

Step Forward uses a trauma-informed approach to help people:

  • Understand how trauma impacts work performance, communication, and confidence

  • Reduce performance and social anxiety without shame or punishment

  • Build coping tools that support emotional regulation on the job

  • Reconnect with their strengths, value, and capacity to contribute

  • Maintain employment—or regain it—with dignity and support

For employers, this means intervening before separation. For employees, it means being supported instead of discarded.

Step Forward is for:

  • Employees on the verge of disciplinary action or termination

  • Individuals with disabilities who are easily overlooked or misunderstood

  • Workers navigating depression, anxiety, or trauma while trying to stay employed

  • People who want to work—but need support that actually meets them where they are

Long story short: Step Forward is for anyone who needs it.Because employment shouldn’t be another place where people are punished for surviving.

This is about retention. This is about equity. This is about seeing the whole person—and giving them a real chance to move forward.
